How to Protect Yourself From Phishing Attacks [Infographic]
Phishing is a type of social engineering where an attacker sends a fraudulent (e.g., spoofed, fake, or otherwise deceptive) message designed to trick a human victim into revealing sensitive information to the attacker or to deploy malicious software on the victim’s infrastructure like ransomware. According to the FBI, phishing and its many variants are the most common attack vector used by cybercriminals. According to Tessian, 75% of organizations around the world experienced a phishing attack in 2020 and a whopping 96% of phishing attacks leveraged email. Phishing attacks also continue to grow in complexity and can trick even some of the most warry users.
Knowing the prevalence of phishing attacks, it is important for us all to be reminded of simple steps we can take to protect ourselves online. And thanks to our friends at Microsoft, we have a lovely infographic to help remind each of us and those we work with how to stay vigilant.
