Brocade/Ruckus achieves leader status in the IHS Markit Wireless Scorecard

Brocade recently announced the company has achieved leader status in the IHS Markit Wireless LAN Infrastructure Vendor Scorecard – 2016 for Ruckus Wireless’ significant presence in the market and fast-paced momentum in wireless LAN growth. Brocade acquired Ruckus Wireless in May 2016, and Ruckus now operates as a business unit within Brocade. Prior to the acquisition, Ruckus was already the largest standalone vendor of WLAN products. According to IHS, “Due to market consolidation, the WLAN vendor landscape has bifurcated into end-to-end networking providers that can address the whole range of enterprise networking requirements and specialists that focus on a particular niche or new ways of solving old problems. The leaders—Brocade, Cisco, and HPE Aruba—are end-to-end networking providers that compete broadly in all segments of the market, leveraging the completeness of their portfolio and their installed bases.”

 

CensorNet  launches new partner program after SMS Passcode merger

Security vendor CensorNet has launched a new partner program after integrating authentication vendor SMS Passcode into the business. CensorNet acquired the Danish firm in February to add its mobile authentication solution to CensorNet’s existing security portfolio. The firm has now formed a new partner program which Grahame Smee, sales vice president at CensorNet, claims “combines the best of both. No one else is offering a platform that can manage all the threat vectors that we do around mail, web, cloud and authentication,” he said. “There are a number of vendors that have a little bit of what we do – there are web vendors, mail vendors and there are multifactor authentication vendors – but there is no one that sells everything we do in one place.” Smee said the addition of the SMS Passcode authentication solution has cemented the firm’s position in its traditional education sector, while also thrusting it into the mid-market and enterprise space.

 

Tegile Systems named to CRN’s 2016 list of Emerging Vendors

Data encryption at the SAN/Storage level is the
newest, easiest way to protect your crucial data

Many times the main priority for a company looking at storage/SAN solutions is speed performance and latency of the SAN. But increasingly, an important component is becoming data encryption, as security is at the heart of nearly every IT decision these days.

Encryption in the past typically required some sort of add-on component. You would encrypt data as it was emailed or transferred to storage. This is a tedious process, and can add the potential for human error or forgotten steps.

As encryption technology has improved, the process has become much easier. Indeed now it is possible to have the data encrypted while being stored on the SAN. In fact, data at rest can now be encrypted.
Verus works with a number of vendor partners for SANs, but has identified the Tegile Systems Intelliflash SAN solution as one of the best of breed offerings for not just performance, but also for data security.

The reason for this? Primarily because the Tegile Intelliflash technology utilizes not just important performance features like in-line deduplication and compression, but it also includes in-line encryption. This means with the check of a box, the data at rest on the SAN is encrypted.

Data security is provided using 256-bit AES encryption of data at rest. IntelliFlash delivers inline encryption of data on SSDs and HDDs with unnoticeable impact on performance. Key management required for encryption is performed natively in the system without needing any user intervention.

Connect Minnesota event at US Bank Stadium

Verus participated as the photography sponsor at the 2016 Connect Minnesota event hosted by Cologix at the US Bank Stadium in early September. The event was a great success, and included behind the scenes tours of the stadium. And every attendee had the opportunity to have their picture taken with the field in the background, thanks to Verus. Verus Open House a smashing success!

Thank you to all of the people who joined us for our open house on Sept. 13. Over 120 people were on hand to celebrate the opening of our new location. Guests enjoyed great food from D’Amico & Sons Catering, tours of the building, the chance to visit with Verus employees and Verus vendor partners. Warm your October with chicken pot pie made from scratch

20 mins prep, 50 mins cooking

Ingredients

• 1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breast halves – cubed
• 1 cup sliced carrots
• 1 cup frozen green peas
• 1/2 cup sliced celery
• 1/3 cup butter
• 1/3 cup chopped onion
• 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
• 1/4 teaspoon celery seed
• 1 3/4 cups chicken broth
• 2/3 cup milk
• 2 (9 inch) unbaked pie crusts

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C.)
2. In a saucepan, combine chicken, carrots, peas, and celery. Add water to cover and boil for 15 minutes. Remove from heat, drain and set aside.
3. In the saucepan over medium heat, cook onions in butter until soft and translucent. Stir in flour, salt, pepper, and celery seed. Slowly stir in chicken broth and milk. Simmer over medium-low heat until thick. Remove from heat and set aside.
4. Place the chicken mixture in bottom pie crust. Pour hot liquid mixture over. Cover with top crust, seal edges, and cut away excess dough. Make several small slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
5. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until pastry is golden brown and filling is bubbly. Cool for 10 minutes before serving.
